Retaining/Boulder walls

  • Let’s face it:  There is not a lot of flat land here in the mountains.  You can many times make some flat area out of a sloped section using retaining walls.
  • Any retaining walls over 4′ high must be engineered per North Carolina.
  • Our rotating grapple makes precise placement of blocks or boulders easy.
  • Proper drainage behind walls are essential to longevity and proper function
  • Concrete “waste blocks” are made from unused concrete at local concrete ready mix facilities and are surprisingly inexpensive.  These rely on gravity (they are quite heavy) to stay in place.
  • More expensive/better looking options are hollow and use gravel inside.
  • Boulder walls look more natural and are appealing in some situations
