Retaining/Boulder walls
- Let’s face it: There is not a lot of flat land here in the mountains. You can many times make some flat area out of a sloped section using retaining walls.
- Any retaining walls over 4′ high must be engineered per North Carolina.
- Our rotating grapple makes precise placement of blocks or boulders easy.
- Proper drainage behind walls are essential to longevity and proper function
- Concrete “waste blocks” are made from unused concrete at local concrete ready mix facilities and are surprisingly inexpensive. These rely on gravity (they are quite heavy) to stay in place.
- More expensive/better looking options are hollow and use gravel inside.
- Boulder walls look more natural and are appealing in some situations
